Regardt

This is me, a content creator with a love for tech, creative design, and video. From MCSD programmer to technology journalist, designer, and videographer, I help start-ups in South Africa to build a digital voice and an online presence. Over the last 20 years, I have worked with various brands and agencies writing words, building strategy, and delivering creative.

The last few years saw me work with brands like uKheshe, Autodesk, Garmin, and DJI. Most recently I headed up Content and Creative for Tencent Africa, focussing on PUBG Mobile. Since PUBGM pulled out of the country in 2020, I launched TBIT.co.za and MBLGRM.com to talk tech and educate mobile gamers on the best mobile titles to look out for.

From video and graphic design to podcasts and insightfully written content, I’m a creative geek with a passion for creating content that stands out.

What I Do

Editorial and Copywriting

From complex ideas that require careful wording to catchy content that needs to captivate eyeballs, I've written it all. From long-form articles to short, quick text bites, I can make your tech easy to understand.

Video Creator

Apart from creating my own weekly YouTube show, I also shoot and edit video for use on all social media platforms. Whether it's a product unboxing or an interview with the CEO, I create interesting videos for a wide range of audiences.

Podcaster

I'm an avid listener and passionate podcaster who creates cool audio content for corporate and lifestyle brands. I also produce my own series of podcasts that cover topics including tech, drones, and craft beer.

Web and Social Media

By staying on top of the latest trends and being a creator myself, I develop digital strategies that have a lasting impact. From strategy to content I work across all social media platforms. I have more than 17 years of experience with WordPress and have been using WooCommerce since it launched. I also shoot photos and videos for brands.

Digital Creative

SocialFoo is my creative agency that looks after start-ups and small business needs. I offer writing servers for PR and marketing as well as in-depth case studies and interviews. I also shoot and produce video interviews or any other content you'd like to put on the web. For companies that need a web presence, I build WordPress/WooCommerce websites and can take care of your product photography needs.

After PUBGM Africa pulled out of the country, I took over my Battle Room Brawls project and now run regular game events for casual gamers. I also host the very popular 'Get the bird' games and give-away exclusive merchandise on the channel. Check out www.battleroombrawls.com

Tencent/PUBG Mobile

Creative and Content Lead

In 2019 I landed a bucket-list contract to help Tencent Africa launch the PUBG Mobile servers in Africa. I created all the local design assets needed, including some exclusive in-game items that were made available to gamers. I also launched the Battle Room Brawls during my time there. Sadly, PUBG Mobile pulled out of the country early in 2020 due to the global pandemic.

uKheshe

Digital and Creative Consultant

I joined uKheshe to help them with the launch of their fintech product to help people get paid by way of QR code payments and Whatsapp. I built the company websites, handled all aspects of design and social media, and produced video and photo ads for the company.

I joined NavWorld to build their online presence, web store and social media strategies. This turned into a full creative and digital role. Over the 4 years, I raised a formidable brand with a fantastic online look and feel. I designed all creative including social media and print ads, e-commerce store and the content-driven website. I also built a strong media presence for the brand and garnered a massive social media following.

Journalist and Podcaster

I started in-house at TechCentral as Senior Journalist and wrote opinion pieces, breaking news stories, and insightful tech news. Later I moved on to co-host the weekly TechCentral podcast.

Head of PR and Communications

When HTC first launched in South Africa, they asked me to develop its communication, PR and digital strategy. I went on to manage all of its social media platforms and developed a brand blog. I also developed all of the content required by the business for the Southern Africa and African markets.

At PiX Magazine I managed all its editorial content and photography, delivered a complete magazine redesign, launched new magazine website and shot a ‘world first’ cover using a smartphone.

As a freelancer, I offered writing services for thought leadership and opinion-piece editorial. My clients included Waggener Edstrom, LRSSA, Deloitte, TVR Computers, Global Micro and Motillion.

SACM was the first big love in my life. I managed the full scope of editorial content, developed the publisher’s digital strategy and piloted numerous ‘firsts.’ This included a tech podcast and digital magazine before these things were cool.
